The
Story On A Good Machine..........
In 1995, John and Kim Dean had the good fortune to receive in training the young two-year-old stallion named "A GOOD MACHINE" from his owners Skip and Mary Niklaus. Dr. Niklaus and his wife Mary of Enola, Pennsylvania sent the two year old to John to be trained for the 1995 Congress 2 Year Old Western Pleasure Futurity. John instantly fell in love with "Mac" and when asked what one thing he would change about A Good Machine
if he could, John replied that the only thing that he would change would be that he (John) owned the horse. The Niklaus' and the Dean's became partners on A Good Machine in 1996 and remained co-owners of the stallion for 5 years. In 2001, the opportunity arose for the Dean's to purchase the
Niklaus' portion of A Good Machine and in September of 2001, they happily became the sole owners of the popular stallion.
On Thanksgiving Day of 2007, the Dean's were contacted to see if they might be
interested in selling A Good Machine. Given the right owners and the right
circumstances, they said it was a possibility. In February 2008, Chris &
Liane Warwick Drake of Buckinghamshire, England became the new owners of A Good
Machine.

Before Chris and Liane met, Liane
was in the theatrical profession initially modeling for various top
designers and being a member of The Royal Ballet from a very young age.
As a child, Liane's first love was horses and riding ,but she had to give
all that up as it developed the wrong muscles for Ballet. She
then took up modern dance and became a member of a famous group of dancers
on TV known as Pans People and was also a lead Dancer at The Sporting Club
in Monte Carlo for 3 years prior to this. She also did some TV advertising
on her journey in the United Kingdom. Liane however never lost her
love of horses. About 12 years ago after she had resumed her
connection with horses and riding she was introduced to Western Pleasure and
the American Quarter Horses. She never rode English again. The Western
pleasure horse just felt so natural to her. She loved The American
Quarter Horse with its power but kind mind. She has now been riding and
showing western pleasure for 12 years and owns a number of Quarter horse one
being A Good Machine the greatest of them all.

Chris became involved in the
horse business as a result of his wife's passion for them. His background
was initially being a property develpoper in England as well as indulging
his passion in "horse power" of a different nature, he became an
international dealer in collectors cars. Chris has raced cars
internationally since 1962 and has won many races. Chris was also a stock
broker and venture capitalist during his career. As a result of their
involvement with American Quarter Horses, Chris and Liane bought a ranch in
Texas run by Keith Long, a well known trainer all over Europe as well as in
the States and an expert in breeding. At Keith's behest, they acquired
A Good Machine a stallion of whom they are immensely proud to own as their
Number 1 breeding horse.
